Provides extensive information on every character encoded in Unicode:
- Code point properties such as Unicode name, script, block, mappings, categories and many more are taken directly from the Unicode data files, including the Unihan database for CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) Unified Ideographs.
- Unicode data files of The Unicode Standard 4.1 are provided but can be replaced by any other version available on unicode.org. (Due to its size the Unihan file is not directly included and needs to be downloaded separately.)
- UTF-32, UTF-16 UTF-8 codes and XHTML entities are shown for each code point.
- Characters can be searched by their name within UnicodeChecker and using Spotlight. In the Utilities window, conversion is provided between plain Unicode text and HTML/XHTML entities, various escape formats (CSS, C99, C, Java, URL), Internationalized Domain Names (IDNA) and the four Unicode Normalization Forms. Some of the conversions are also available to all applications from the Services menu. Using AppleScript you can include the conversion/escaping functions into your workflow and also query many properties of the individual code points.
